Creating a username and password for your RAIN account
To connect to the Internet using RAIN, you will need to:
1) Create a username and password for your account.
Your username cannot be already in use by a current RAIN member.
It must be no more than 8 characters from the set of alphabetic characters, numeric
characters, period (.), underscore (_), and hyphen (-) and the first character should
be alphabetic. Your username must be lowercase.
Your password cannot be more than 8 characters, although it may be mixed
upper and lowercase containing alphabetic and numeric characters. Please remember
your password. If it is forgotten, you will need to create a new password.
2) Follow the enclosed instructions to set-up the Dial-up Connection and E-mail accounts
for a Windows computer.
Macintosh users, follow the instructions for setting up the Remote Access control
panel. This will require your RAIN username and password.
Your e-mail account will also ask for the Incoming and Outgoing server names.
These are rain.org for Incoming and mail.rain.org for Outgoing.
Use the same username and password when you create your e-mail account.
3) Call us with the username and password you have created to activate your
account and ask any questions, regarding your account at 805-686-1647 or 1-(888)-711-8091(Toll Free)
