Connecting to the Internet using a Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or 2000 computer.
RAIN uses the Dial-up Networking program included with Windows to connect to the Internet.
(Called Network and Dial-up Connections in Windows 2000) Learn how to use this program as
it is important in maintaining and restoring your Internet connection.
First locate the Dial-up Networking program, by clicking on the Windows Start button. Choose Programs from the pop-up list that opens, then choose Accessories, then Communications and
finally Dial-up Networking. Once the Dial-up Networking window opens, click on the Make a New Connection icon and follow the instructions for the Internet Connection Wizard program
that opens. You will need to enter your local dial-up access phone number. These are listed on
the RAIN phone numbers sheet. You have now created your RAIN connection to the Internet. You may now right click (press down the Right mouse button) on the new icon you have just created, and choose Rename (press down on the Left mouse button), to name the icon RAIN (or whatever you choose). At this point you may want to create a shortcut; so this new icon shows up on your Desktop area. This is done by following the above procedure for Renaming
your icon, only this time you will choose Create Shortcut from the drop down menu list.
Please call the RAIN office to complete the set-up for your new account at 899-4695.
