| Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary "Status
of the Resources" Public Forum |

On May 17th 2000, Channel Islands National
Marine Sanctuary held a public information forum at UC Santa
Barbara regarding the Status of the Resources within the sanctuary.
RAIN was on hand to video the event, which was an exciting
step in the sanctuaries boundary redefinition process.

Dave Foreman - "The River Wild: Rewilding
in the Context of Conservation History"
|
|
|
On May 4th chair of the Wildlands
Project and Co-founder of Earth First! gave a lecture
on rewilding at UC Santa Barbara's Campbell Hall. This exciting
lecture was folowed by a talk on Santa Barbara's local conservation
efforts with the Conception
Coast Project and was broadcasted live on the internet.

Camp Internet goes to Palm Canyon!
|
|
|
On April 27th 2000, the Camp Internet
Kimbark Elementary School class went on their field
trip to Andreas Canyon and Palm Canyon in the Agua Caliente
Desert. This trip was part of RAIN's Camp
Internet Distance Education Program The students
took a guided tour of both canyons and learned much
about the desert ecosystem and the native Cahuilla Indians
who lived there.

Telemedicine Video work continues
|
|
|
As part of the ongoing Distance
Learning and Telemedicine Project, RAIN is setting up
an archive of educational videos designed to teach family
practice residents, nurse practitioners, visiting medical
students, and community physicians the basics of caring for
children from a pediatrician's perspective. To check this
