
Act V, Scene I
- Edmund and Regan enter with their
troops
- Edmund sends a gentleman to see
if Albany still wants to fight Cordelia's army
- Regan professes her love for Edmund,
then jealously questions him about his relationship with Goneril
- Edmund swears that he doesn't like
Goneril
- Regan tells Edmund not to go near
Goneril
- Goneril and Albany enter with soldiers
- Goneril would rather lose the battle
than have Edmund with Regan
- Albany makes it clear that he's
not fighting against Lear and his soldiers, but the foreign invaders
- Edmund, Regan, and Goneril agree
with him
- Edmund joins Albany in a meeting
with military officers
- Albany remained behind, and was
met by Edgar (disguised) who showed him Goneril's letter to Edmund
- Edgar asks Albany to read it before
the battle
- Edgar promises to return, if summoned,
if Albany defeats the French
- Edmund reports that Cordelia's
army is close
- Edmund states his plans:
- He isn't sure who he wants to marry
- Once Albany defeats Cordelia's
army, Lear and Cordelia will be killed
