The summit of Beinn an Aonaich Mhoir is about 1300 feet, and is nearly due north of the Ballachulish bridge. It can be seen near the center of the Creag Ghorm panorama, and Creag Ghorm is seen near the center of this panorama. Loch Linnhe extends from the bridge to the west and south. Loch Leven extends from the bridge to the east; the village of Ballachulish is visible on the south shore near the left edge of the panorama. The Ballachulish quarry, now disused, is at the west end of the village. Click here or on its image to see a panorama at the quarry. At the right end of the panorama Beinn na Cille is seen on the west shore of Loch Linnhe "above" the Corran Narrows, where a five-minute ferry ride currently costs £5.20!
The seven digital images that make up the panorama were taken in May 2002 in the "portrait" format at a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The camera was an Olympus C-3040Zoom, using a "SmartMedia" memory card with panorama capture capability. The images were assembled using "Camedia Master" software, which automatically "stitched" them in two pieces. |
