The Glencoe Lochan was created by Lord Strathcona in the nineteenth century to help his Native American wife get over her longing for her home in Canada. The lochan is now maintained by the Forestry Commission. It is a popular place for easy walks.
The summit of the Pap of Glencoe can be seen over the tops of the trees at the right end of the panorama. The five digital images that make up the panorama were taken in May 2002 in the "landscape" format at a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The camera was an Olympus C-3040Zoom, using a "SmartMedia" memory card with panorama capture capability. The images were assembled using "Camedia Master" software, which automatically "stitched" them in two pieces. |
