The "scenic drive" around Loch Leven was once a 14-mile detour needed to avoid a long delay waiting for the Ballachulish ferry during the peak of the summer season before the bridge was built. There is considerably less traffic on the "B863" these days.

The unmistakable shape of the Pap of Glencoe can be seen at the left end of the panorama. Near the center the peak of Stob Ban is seen beyond the ridge above the north shore of the loch. The village of Kinlochleven is seen at the right end of the panorama.

The six digital images that make up the panorama were taken in May 2002 in the "landscape" format at a resolution of 640x480 pixels. The camera was an Olympus C-3040Zoom, using a "SmartMedia" memory card with panorama capture capability. The images were assembled using Photoshop 4, rather than an automatic "stitching" program.
