6-14-96 Purchased Discover Programming with Java which includes a complete, working copy of the Metrowerks CodeWarrior Java development environment for $99.00.

6-24-96 Stef reports, "using a PMac 7600/120 with MacOS 7.5.3 Update 2.0 Revision 2 with: NEtscape 3.0b4 OT latest (1.1.1?) It works

Mark Pratt says, "I am running a 7100/80av with system 7.5.3 and the netscape Atlas pr2 which runs java quite licely..." Licely? I like it!

Question of the Day: "Why doesn't an 8100 (w/82 MBs of RAM) run Java applets?" Anyone got any theories for this ram-bunctious fella?

One of the best sources for Mac VMRL & Java News on the Web isMediaNews It's as current as your morning cup of java.

7/2/96 Netscape 3.0b5 is out and it brags of a JIT (Just In Time) Java Compiler that is supposed to speed things up considerably. Unfortunately, that feature is only for WIN95. This could get irritating.

7/4/96 The VRML 2.0 Specification is frozen now. They stopped short of naming either Java or Javascript as THE scripting language for VRML, but they have included specifications for browser developers on how to implement Java if they choose. I also have a MacVRML page at http://www.rain.org/~da5e/macvrml.html.

It is for someone who lives in Macsbug and has low-level experience with
MacOS, knows PPC/68K and their calling conventions backwards. Is not
