Syntactical Stories

Syntactical Stories are a way to formulate self-talk into its most effective form. By using your own motivational strategies on a syntactical as well as conceptual level, you can create powerful convincer scripts to motivate yourself and make internal and behavioral changes. At least, I think it will work for you. Give it a try and let me know.

(This technique presupposes some knowledge of NLP and some prior work on eliciting your own motivation and de-motivation syntax and your metaprograms.)

I think this can best be illustrated by an example:

 Motivational Syntax:
Let's say that you have found that when you are in a motivated state the syntax for you is often that:
1. You tell yourself something. Auditory Internal
2. Then, you feel something. Kinesthetic
3. Then you see a picture in your mind's eye. Visual Internal

 Metaprograms:
Now let's further assume that some of your metaprograms are:
1. Moving toward
2. Internal reference
3. Self sorting
4. Matching Sameness with Exception
5. Need to see something many times to believe it.
6. Possibility
7. Independent
8. Feeling
9. Concept
10. Beginning

 Motivational Bits
And a couple of key words or concepts that are attractive to you are:
1. Being a genius
2. Being special and unique.

 Action Steps:
How to get the thing to happen.

Here's an example of a SynStory followed by a breakout of its elements:

 Waking up Energetic & Enthusiastic-SS
"I tell myself, "I can and will wake up energetic and enthusiastic each morning." I feel myself feeling energetic and enthusiastic each morning. I see a big, bright, closeup picture of myself waking up feeling energetic and enthusiastic. Waking up energetic and enthusiastic moves me toward success and happiness. Waking up energetic and enthusiastic is a wonderful feeling inside. I know that it benefits me. Waking up energetic and enthusiastic is like having an upper in the morning except that it is healthy. I have awakened energetic and enthusiastic many times before and I will do it all the time. Waking up energetic and enthusiastic opens up all kinds of possibilities for achievement and happiness. It makes me independent of stimulants and worrying. Waking up energetic and enthusiastic gives me great emotional and physical feelings throughout the day. I conceive of waking up energetic and enthusiastic as a conceptual tool for happiness. It is the best beginning for every day. I have decided firmly to wake up feeling energetic and enthusiastic every morning or any time I take a nap. I have a growing sense of certainty that I will wake up energetic and enthusiastic each day. I am focused on doing this and it will make me an emotional genius. This is something nobody else can do every day. I will tell myself each evening before sleep that I will wake up energetic and enthusiastic. I will act energetic and enthusiastic when I wake up no matter how I feel. I will visualize myself energetic and enthusiastic each morning when I wake up."

Break out of the story's elements:

2. Then, you feel something. Kinesthetic
"I feel myself feeling energetic and enthusiastic each morning. "
