Biography

One of the most popular and recognizable personalities and voices in music since the early Sixties, Dionne Warwick continues to enjoy a phenomenally successful and diverse career on record, in concert, on television, and now as the host of a nationally-syndicated radio show. "Love-Notes From Around The World" brings romance back to radio with the greatest of classic love songs mixed with interviews of legendary artists by Warwick and her own commentary.

Appropriately, one of her latest albums is titled Friends Can Be Lovers and includes a duet with cousin Whitney Houston. Recently, she delved into Brazilian music with Aquarela Do Brasil. To date, Warwick's prowess with the love song has resulted in two #1 singles among 12 Top 10 hits (31 Top 40 singles), including several which will forever be associated with her: "Walk On By," "Message To Michael," "I Say A Little Prayer" "This Girl's In Love With You," and Grammy-winning "Do You Know The Way To San Jose."

Among her other hits are the #1 "Then Came You" (with The Spinners) and the Grammy-winner "That's What Friends Are For" (with Gladys Kight, Stevie Wonder and Elton John), as well as, "I'll Never Fall In Love Again," "Alfie," "Anyone Who Had A Heart," "Heartbreakers," and Grammy-winning "I'll Never Love That Way Again". She earned seven Top 40 singles in the Eighties alone, among them collaborations with Luther Vandross, Johnny Mathis, and Jeffrey Osborne. Overall, she's garnered one Platinum album, five Gold albums (including 1985's Friends) and five Grammy Awards.

Warwick began her career doing background sessions in New York Pop and R&B studios. Discover by the then-relatively unknown composer Burt Bacharach, she signed her first record deal in 1962 and debuted with the hit "Don't Make Me Over," written and produced by Bacharach and Hal David. In an extraordinary life as a performer spanning more than 30 years, she has bridged Pop, R&B, Gospel, Jazz, and now Barzilian music.

Today, Dionne Warwick, whether singing about love on stage, TV or record, or talking about love and relationships on radio, continues to help provide the soundtrack to romance.
