I Love to Ski

Updated 30 June 1996, but unable to test all links, since it is summer.

I like to ski and belong to the SLO Skiers. I also like to ski midweek in Wrightwood and Big Bear. My parents taught me how to ski when I was 4 years old, back in Michigan. While I was a student at Michigan Tech, I became a ski patrolman on the school's Mont Ripley ski patrol, eventually becoming the Assistant Patrol Leader. I also served on the Holiday Hill (now Mountain High East) ski patrol in '70/71 when I moved to Southern California.

I have skied many times in Colorado, most often at Vail, but also at Aspen and Snowmass, A-Basin and Copper Mountain, and Winter Park a long time ago. I've also skied in New Mexico at Sierra Blanca, in Utah at the areas around Salt Lake City, in Oregon at Mt. Bachelor, in Idaho at Sun Valley, in Wyoming at Jackson Hole, and all around California, North and South. I have been on three European ski trips to Austria and Switzerland, and to Banff and surrounding areas in Canada.

I was President and also Editor of the Downhill Rumblers (Point Mugu Ski Club, now Gold Coast Ski Club) for a number of years. And I also was a member of the Santa Barbara Ski Club for a few years, serving for a while as their representative to the Los Angeles and the Central Councils of the Far West Ski Association. Someday I will find something to do for the SLO Skiers, perhaps initially a web page.

Oh, I also have a set of grass skis and rollerblades. Either is a death wish.

Waterskiing? I did some as a kid, and a bit on the Colorado River with the Pt. Mugu Ski Club.

Snowboarding? Tried it once at Jackson Hole, and wore myself out rather quickly. I never was much good at skateboarding, and never did take up surfing, just bought the music.
