Anacapa Island Field Report, May, 2001
                                                   Plants

The plants we saw at Anacapa Island were beautiful and numerous.
Ice plant, the plant introduced to the island to stop erosion, was almost everywhere.  It had bunched up oval like, puffed things instead of leaves, and stupendous, bright, pink flowers. We saw giant cereopsis that had yellow flowers. Another one of the plants we saw was the morning glory. The flowers were about 3 inches,  with a gold center and white petals, tinted pink.   The Indian paintbrush was the same size as the morning glory, with an amazing red flower. We saw some dudleya that was all green. And we saw yarrow, which had mini white flowers clustered together on top of a straight stem. The class also saw some non-native Eucalyptus trees in the middle of two hills on middle Anacapa Island. Those are the plants we saw at  Anacapa Island.
