An Etrex is a handheld device that shows your position on the world. It does that by contacting different satellites in space orbiting the earth. It shows your  latitude and longitude. The first time we used the Etrex was in the field near the school.  A group of students laid a track down, and another group tried to follow the track to its endpoint. The first group put out 5 flags. Only one was the endpoint of the track. Most of the groups were able to find the endpoint and bring in the right flag.

Mary and Alexis are making a track and will place a flag at the end. Ted Richard and Kevin begin the search for the right flag.

Teresa, Andreina and Sierra look at the  directions.

Zack and Alex  go out into the field to start. Mrs. Nemeth helps Cris and Elena to follow the Etrex and find the right place to go.
