Breath Boat Day
On Sunday in September , children from all over
Ventura County and Los Angeles area enjoyed a day of fun and educational
activities to help them live a better and healthier life.
These children
have moderate to severe asthma. Participants were referred from private
practice, health care outreach clinics of Ventura County Medical Center,
and school nurses and principals throughout Ventura County. This event
took place in the Ventura Harbor, in Ventura, CA.
There were approximately 60 children that attended this
event. We had trained volunteers that helped us with supervision, activities,
and transportation.
The children played in the sand and in the Jolly Jumper.
They also had the opportunity to go and take a tour of the Channel Islands
Marine Museum-National Park Service. The children were able to pet some
of the marine animals. They also took a boat trip in the Ventura Harbor.
The overall experience for these children was great.
They had so
much fun.
We would like to thank all our sponsors: Camarillo Health Care District, Key Pharmaceuticals, 3M Pharmaceuticals, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, Preston Hedgepeth Asthma Foundation, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Swift Memorial Foundation, Landon Pediatric Foundation, Glen Galbraith and Island Packers, Annette Okamura, MAVA and all those who generously volunteered their time.
