A Summary of Lompoc Library Services

The Lompoc Library has a main library in Lompoc and branches in Buellton and Vandenberg Village.

• Obtain your library card: The first one is FREE. Replacement for lost card is $1.00.

• Borrow circulating books, cassettes, compact discs, pamphlets, and magazines FREE from any Lompoc library for three weeks.

• Library material renewals:  You can now renew your library materials one of three ways: 

  1) In person

  2) On-Line

  3) By Phone for a maximum of 3 weeks (if no one else has a hold on them) 

• Search reference materials including magazines and newspapers and government documents to meet your research needs.

• Search the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) FREE of charge at a library terminal or from your home or office computer. You may search for books or audiovisual items (cassettes, compact discs, etc.) in the OPAC by author, title, subject, or by keyword.

• Search the online MAGAZINE INDEX for citations, abstracts and some full text FREE of charge at a library terminal.

• Search MELVYL, the University of California Libraries Catalog, and other library catalogs FREE of charge at a library terminal or from your home or office computer.

• If the book you need is on loan to someone else or not immediately available at your library, you may ask reference staff to place a hold for you or place the hold yourself at a public terminal. There is a charge of 50 cents per hold, due at the time of pickup. You will receive a phone call when the item is available at your library for pickup.

• All libraries have applications for service by the Braille Institute of Los Angeles. Service is FREE from the Braille Institute for the blind, and for physically handicapped persons who cannot hold a book. There is a small "talking book" collection on loan from the Braille Institute.

• All Lompoc libraries have large print collections.

• All Lompoc libraries have materials in the Spanish language.

• Most libraries present FREE storytelling sessions.

• A FREE Summer Reading Program is offered in all Lompoc libraries June - August.

• Meeting rooms are available at the Lompoc Public Library for a fee.
