What you have been obliged to discover by yourself leaves a path in your mind which you can use again when the need arises. - G.C. Lichtenberg

Treebeard's Homepage

Treebeard is aka Marc Kummel. Of course these pages are "under construction" - the Web is under construction! This could be the World Wide Book we're making. What matters is adding content.

Web links are a dime a dozen these days. I no longer collect them. Here's several dollars worth of my (old) links, and some honest work.

Treebeard's Update

Henry David Thoreau says "Simplify, simplify," and I've been trying. If the hidden cost of the Internet and Satellite TV is that I don't read or jam music with my kids, then the cost is too high, no matter what quality the information on the Web or the programming on the Independent Film Channel. I've been using my Web time more carefully, trying to add content.

I teach science and shop at Dunn Middle School, a small independent school in Los Olivos, over the mountains behind Santa Barbara.

This is the eighth year that I've been writing a stumper every school week for the DMS Friday Newsnote. A growing collection of 150+ new and old stumpers (with answers) is available on Treebeard's Stumper Page, updated weekly when school is in session. I'm proud of this collection, and I'd like to publish on paper at some point.

I've been programming in BASIC (mostly) for 20+ years. Check out Treebeard's BASIC Vault to see what I've been up to.

I'm proud of my growing collection of (mostly) natural history photographs at my Treebeard's Photos fotolog.

Treebeard's Homepage first appeared after midnight on Christmas Eve, 1994. This is hand-crafted HTML written with a text editor and maintained with Perl and Basic. These pages are usable with Lynx, but they look better with proper table support.

This is the page access since the last reset.
