Bearers
1. Print out this design. (Click Here).
2. Cut out soldier. Color first if you want to, or print out on light blue paper for Union or grey paper for Confederate.).
3. Fold him forward in two along the back. fasten halves of head together with a tape loop and glue the nose and chin together with a bit of glue on a toothpick. Cut the left over wedge of paper out of the back of the neck.
3. Bend base loop around the front and staple together. Put creases into the base loop straight down from the shoes at the toes and the heels. Fold the flaps on the base loop out at right angles (See model on right in photo.) Model should stand up now.
4 Now the hard part: make a flag for your little soldier. Try a bamboo BQQ skewer (ask Mom) or an extra-long fireplace match (Just the stick--ask Dad>) for the flag pole. And then do a little research and draw the flag you choose on a scrap of paper and tape or glue it to your fag pole. 5. Put realistic bends into the elbows shoulders and wrists and then tape or glue the hands where they belong on the shaft of the flag pole. Glue or tape the butt of the flag pole to the base loop. Hopefully, it will stand up on its own.
6. If it perists in falling over, get an irregular piece of scrap paper cut into a 4'' diameter blob and glue tape or staple the flaps from the base loop onto it. (See paper model on left in photo.)
