Creating an email account using:
Outlook Express 6.0, Outlook XP, Netscape
7.0, Thunderbird, Opera 6

Outlook Express 6.0
Click on the Windows Start button and then click
on the email
(Outlook Express) icon.
Under the listing for Email
click
on “Set Up a Mail account”, to open up the Internet
Connection Wizard.
Enter your name, for Display Name.
Click the Next button.
Enter your RAIN email address. Click the Next button.
Make sure POP3 is
selected for “My
Incoming Mail server is”.
Enter rain.org
for the Incoming mail server name.
Enter mail.rain.org for the Outgoing mail server name. Click the Next button.
Enter your RAIN username and password.
Click the Next button.
Click on the Finish button.
(If this information
varies from what shows on your computer, then you should use the Help
menu for your email program).

Outlook XP
Open the Outlook program. Select
Tools and choose Accounts from the drop-down
menu. The Internet
Accounts window will open. If you do not have an Accounts
option, select Services.
Once the Internet Accounts window opens,
click on the
Add button and choose
Mail, from the drop-down
menu.
The Internet Connection Wizard will open.
Enter your RAIN email
address.
Click on the
Next button.
Choose POP3 for "my incoming mail server is a".
Enter rain.org for Incoming
mail.
Enter mail.rain.org
for Outgoing mail.
Click on the
Next button.
Enter your
RAIN username
for "Account name".
Enter
your
RAIN password
for
"Password".
Click on the
Next button, then
click on the
Finish button.

Netscape 7.0
Open the Netscape Mail program.
Choose the
Edit menu, and then
choose Mail & Newsgroups Account
Settings.
Once the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window opens,
click on the
New account button.
If you have already
created an account in this program,
click
on the
Add account button.
This will open the Account Wizard.
Click the
button next to Email account.
Click on the
Next button.
The Identity window will open.
Enter
your name and your RAIN
email address.
Click the
Next button.
The Server window will open.
Choose
POP and
enter rain.org for Incoming
Server.
Click the
Next button.
The username window opens.
Enter
your RAIN username.
Click the
Next button.
The account window opens.
Enter
whatever name you wish for the
account name.
Click on
the
Next button.

Thunderbird
Open the Thunderbird program.
If this is the first email account you have created, then the Account
Wizard window should open.
Make sure the "Email account
button" is selected.
(If you have already created other email accounts, then click on the
Tools menu and then select Account Settings.
Next click on the Add account button.
You should now be at the Identity window.
Enter your name and
RAIN email address.
Click
on the
Next button.
Once the Server window opens,
select
POP and
enter rain.org
for the Incoming server, and
mail.rain.org for the
Outgoing server.
Click
on the
Next button.
On the User Names window
enter
your
RAIN username.
Click
the
Next button.
On the Account Name window you may enter whatever you wish to name your
account. Your email address may already
be shown.
Click the
Next button.
Click the
Finish button on this last
screen.

Opera 6
Open the Opera program.
Choose the
Mail menu, and then
choose New Account from the
drop-down
list.
The New account wizard will open.
Select Regular e-mail
(POP).
Click the
Next button.
On the next screen,
enter your
name, and
your RAIN
email address.
You may skip the Organization entry if you wish.
Click on the
Next button.
Enter your
RAIN username for
"Login name", and then
enter
your
RAIN
password.
Click
on the
Next button.
On this last screen,
enter
rain.org for
Incoming
server and
mail.rain.org
for Outgoing server.
Click
the
Finish button.
