Maximize your bargaining power

There's strength in numbers...buying power as well as bargaining power. By joining with other civic minded businesses throughout the nation your buying power increases. By joining with other local businesses your bargaining power is maximized. As a business member of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce, you can call upon the resources of area-wide, statewide and nationwide organizations to lower the cost and ease the stress of doing business. Because we know that quality employees deserve a quality benefit package, the Santa Paula Chamber, along with other chambers in the "Gold Coast" area has made special arrangements for group insurance at preferred rates. Businesses with as few as two employees (the owner is considered an employee if working in the business) are guaranteed issue of life, health and disability insurance products through Blue Cross/Blue Shield at rates below those generally available.

Through your local Chamber's participation in the California State Chamber of Commerce, you are entitled to special rates on Workers Compensation Coverage. California Comp., available only through the Chamber, will reduce the cost of complying with California law by covering your employees in the event of on-the-job injury or job-related illness.

Wage and Hour, Equal Opportunity and other required posters can be purchased either individually or as a package to fulfill State and Federal requirements that notification of these laws be posted in the workplace.

A labor law manual in CD-rom form and updated bi-monthly is available at the Chamber office for your reference. Pages or sections can be printed as needed.

As a Chamber member you have access to the latest information on State business and employment statue changes. A full time staff in Sacramento monitors, analyzes and reports what is happening. Alert, a publication of the California Chamber's team in Sacramento, reports on legislation that affects YOUR business. A copy is available in the Chamber office. Your membership supports an independent pro-business lobby that works to inform and encourage business friendly legislation that is in YOUR best interest.

The Membership Directory is a resource for you to locate other member businesses or individuals in Santa Paula who are interested in offering goods or services that you need. The 1999 edition will also serve as a guide to what has happened in our town's history and what is happening.

The Directory tells others about your business and is a much requested tool for new residents looking for reputable businesses.

Our monthly breakfast meeting, "Good Morning Santa Paula" is a great opportunity to hear the latest news about your neighbors, your community and the world around you. Speakers on topics of general interest to business owners and managers, as well as the general public, are presented. There is also a chance to tell others about YOUR business.

The Monthly Mixer, hosted by a member business, is a chance to network, share ideas and learn about other local enterprises. Hosting a Mixer is the perfect opportunity to showcase your business.

Your representatives in the promotion of Cultural Tourism. The revitalization of Historic Downtown is nearly completed. It is our belief that the prosperity of the business community will promote the prosperity of Santa Paula and all of our citizens. We are actively involved with other organizations that are working to publicize the unique atmosphere and historic significance of our city and the surrounding area, and to plan quality events that will showcase our community and invite tourism.

Your voice at City Hall. We have worked hard to establish a warm and open relationship with City Hall. We are proud of the progress that has been made toward an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust which must be the measure of a community focused on its collective future. We invite you to become a part of that ongoing dialogue through open forums, town hall meetings and one-on-one problem solving sessions.

Visitor Information and Referral. Our location at the Depot makes us the logical stop for visitors seeking information and directions to local business establishments.

Whether it's where to go for a quick lunch, buy antiques, or purchase a postcard, they stop at the Chamber. What a unique opportunity we have to direct visitors to our local merchant members! It's a great opportunity to suggest they stay and explore the town or return at a later date. There is always a list of things to do and what to see, a map and a directory are available for those interested in spending an afternoon or a weekend getting acquainted with our hometown. We fill requests for "visitor" and "relocation" packages, custom tailored to individual needs or interests, from phone and written requests. We are happy to include literature about your business in those packages as well as making recommendations to residents and visitors who are seeking a particular product or service.

The Chamber Plaque on your wall, or decal in your window is an indication to the public that your business is an active participant in the life of the community.

We're working every day to make Santa Paula the BEST hometown in the USA!
