This site has just experienced its first aniversery. It has now been on the Internet for over one year. Before the Chief got his own domain he had an angelfire site with a free guestbook hosted on another server. The guestbook froze up about a month ago, so we just installed a new guestbook that loads really quick and is easy to use. Feel free to sign it.

Below are a few entries from the old guestbook:

Chief,Thank you so much for welcoming me to your tribe. I love coming here to read the stories and to see what you have going on. I am happy to be a part of your web family and to come back for visits again and again. Please feel free to visit me. Diana

I enjoyed my visit, your site is quite unique and I loved the peotry and short stories.Valkerie

Heyla! Love your site! The Ebook is awesome! And I'm glad you didn't cut a patch out of your jacket!Skytigress

The Tribe is easy to join and offers the following cgi-perl scripts to help writers promote their writing online:

Those who join any of these scripts you will be considered members of the Tribe. To begin with it is essential that you have a website. If you do not, we can help you get one for free. Those of you who have literary websites are welcome to add your link to The Chief's Literary Link Directory. This is by far my favorite page on this site because so many people have added such nice sites. You will find it is extremely easy to add your site and your link will be posted immediately.

You may also submit some of your Poetry or Short Stories to this site and run a link back to yours. You will see these links in the navigation frame to your left.

Lately we've been getting into installing perl scripts. The Literary Sites Of The Tribe is among my favorite. Since it's done so well we recently installed another script we are calling More Literary Sites of The Tribe. If you are not yet a member of the Tribe you should check out the first script to get an idea what we are doing. We hope you will join the second script.

----

To check out some similar scripts which feature hundreds of really nice websites you may want to click on the Top Site Scripts in the navigation frame to your left.

Our most recent scripts, 100 Poems and 100 Fiction Excerpts are an even better way to promote your literary website becuase they allow you to add some of your writing and run a link to your site. If you are a writer who is promoting a literary website you should definately submit some of your writing to one or both of these scripts.

----

This website also features a unique Literary Banner Exchange Program that numerous members of the Tribe have joined. What sets it apart from the others is the fact that we advertise all the members equally instead of the Chief or a few members who pay most of the time, and everyone else occasionally. Currently there are dozens of spots throughout this site and dozens more throughout the Literary Sites Of The Tribe. Below is an example of our Banner Exchange. Feel free to check out the site being advertised. It doesn't cost any money to join and your site will be advertised equally with the others throughout the Tribe if you decide to join. There is also a link in the navigation frame to your left.

Joining webrings used to be a pretty good way to promote your site. Recently Yahoo bought out Webring.org and messed up a good thing. Most of the Rings the Chief has joined are closing down because Yahoo made it so complicated. Instead of closing down the Chief's Webring I learned how to custom build a webring and it turned out to be the fastest loading ring I've ever come across. It may look similar to other rings, but it's a lot funner to use, especially with Netscape. If you will click on the Random Link, you will quickly understand what I mean.

The Island Princess is a very special member of the Tribe who is making a friendship quilt and asking members of the Tribe to add a square. Before you go cutting a piece out of your leather jacket and mailing it to her, the way I almost did, you should understand it is an online quilt and a very creative idea. It is so creative the Chief will be making a Quilt For The Tribe in the near future. Below I will add a couple of the squares to give you an idea what we're talking about. You can click in on them to go to the Island Princess's Friendship Quilt.

This site had received quite a few awards for which we are very grateful. You will see a few of them displayed throughout the site, or you can check all of them out by clicking into Awards in the navigation frame to your left.

Recently we added what we are calling a credit card machine to the Chief's Ebook. The way it set up you can read the prologue and first four chapters for free. By the time you finish with those you will know whether or not you would like to read the rest of the novel. If you decide to finish reading it, you will be able to pay $5.00 with your credit card to get immediate access to the entire novel.

Below is a description of some of the characters. Of course we realize some of you would prefer not to read this type of writing which is why we formed the on-line Tribe which has nothing to do with the Tribe in the novel. All writers are welcome to join the Tribe and we're confident that EVERYONE can find some literary entertainment to their liking throught this site.

Chief Blackbear
Cast Of Characters

Black Bear is one of the few Sioux Indians to remain behind when the Tribe is driven out of the Black Hills in South Dakota during the late 1800’s. He claims a mountain loaded with gold as his own. When the gold rush develops a few years later he kills anyone who trespasses on his mountain and attempts to dig for gold. As the years go by he terminates the lives of hundreds of gold miners; keeping their weapons and supplies in his cave where the walls are lined with gold. Later a young white woman who’s father owns the largest cattle ranch in the valley explores the mountain without her father knowing. Black Bear meets her, they later fall in love, and she is able to bring her father up to the mountain. He and Black Bear become friends, and he respects his daughter’s wishes to marry the Indian. Soon after their marriage she convinces Black Bear to mine the gold and sell it so he will no longer have to kill so many people defending it. Her father finances the expedition and Black Bear becomes the wealthiest man in the state of South Dakota. Later she becomes pregnant and has a blue eyed baby named Bob Blackbear. When her father dies, her husband inherits the ranch where war breaks out because the local ranchers think it’s wrong for an Indian to have the largest cattle ranch, a white woman (who they kill), and the most money in the state. Many of Black Bear’s ranch hands are Sioux, White, Black and Chinese. They work well together and are loyal to Black Bear who lives well into the 1940’s when he is assassinated by the Chicago Mafia.

Bob Blackbear leaves the ranch for Chicago in the 1930’s and has a niche for betting on horses. He makes thousands of dollars and is known around the community as the Chief. He opens a bar called the Chief’s Saloon where gambling and prostitution are big. The Mafia wants a cut of the action for protection fees, but the Chief won’t pay so a feud breaks out between the Tribe and the Mafia.

Jenny is a Gypsy Belly Dancer at the Chief’s Saloon. She and the Chief later get married and have a baby named Joe.

Jack is the Chief’s right-hand man who is raised on the ranch with Bob and comes to Chicago with him when they were in their early twenties.

Frank Olivetti and Tony Campenero start out as money collectors for the Mafia. They later collaborate the assassination of the Chief, and of Black Bear. They both grow to head the Chicago Mob in the 1950’s. When Joe comes back to town seeking vengeance they refer to him as the Chief.

Sergeant Duffy was also raised on the ranch and is like a brother to Bob and Jack. He goes off to fight the Japanese in World War II and becomes one of Eisenhower’s protogues. In the 1950’s he fights in Korea and joins the CIA after that.

Black-Jack is Joe’s younger half brother. He has ultimate respect for his brother and will do anything his brothers demands.

Mike is Joe’s blood-brother from Korea. Joe and Mike are both in the Sergeant’s squad during the Korean conflict in the 1950’s where they clean out caves full of North Koreans in South Korea.

Gator and Kateri are male and female Seminole twins. Their father was in Sergeant Duffy’s squad in Korea and was killed. After the conflict Sergeant Duffy takes Gator and Kateri under his wing and gives them positions in the CIA.

Fidel is a Cuban revolutionary who takes over the island by force. He and Joe both fall in love with Kateri and there is blood shed over her.

Raul is Fidel’s right-hand man.

Joe and Kateri escape Cuba and later have a baby who is called Little Bear. Little Bear grows into a healthy teenager who brings home teenage problems at a time his father cannot deal with them.

Pepé Martinez is one of Joe’s good friends in Costa Rica and later becomes President of the country.

Cecilia is Pepé’s daughter.

Angela is Joe’s blond hair, blue eyed, second wife who is a former playboy centerfold and stripper. Joe loves her sexual capabilities, but has trouble tolerating her stupidness.

Nick is an Italian, millionaire pot dealer in Ft. Lauderdale Florida during the 1970’s and talks the Chief into doing business together.

Vito is Nick’s bodyguard and right-hand man.

Gigi is Joe’s bookie. They later open a restaurant together called the Hideaway. Gigi owns one third of it, but all of it is his name because the Chief’s money is illegal.

Laura is like a daughter to the Chief and manages the the Hideaway.

Snake, Scrappy, and Dobey are a few of the misfits that make up the Tribe. The Tribe is made up of a bunch of people who would be considered scofflaws by the rest of the population, but there is honor among the Tribe members.

Frank Faulkenstein is Chief of The Atlanta Police Department. He knows the Tribe is participating in illegal activities and won’t stop pursuing them until the Chief is in jail.

Deborah is Faulkenstein’s teenage daughter. She and Little Bear go to the same school and have a secret relationship. Hell breaks out when her father finds out about their affair.
